DID YOU KNOW:

The difference between a BINDING and a NON-BINDING ESTIMATE?

A BINDING estimate is an agreement made in advance with the mover that guarantees the total cost of the move based on the quantities and services shown on the estimate.
A NON-BINDING estimate is the carrier's approximation of the cost based on the estimated weight of the shipment and the services requested. A non-binding estimate is not binding on the carrier and the final charges will be based on the actual weight and tariff provisions in effect

Sometimes you hear movers talking about S.I.T. (Storage-In-Transit):

Storage-In-Transit (SIT) is the holding of a shipment in or at the mover's storage facility awaiting further transportation and/or delivery. This service is normally provided at your request but it can also apply if the driver cannot accomplish the delivery for reasons other than the fault of the mover or due to impractical conditions.
The charges normally apply based the weight of the shipment, or portion of the shipment, that is being stored. Rates apply based on the length of the storage period and the weight of the goods being stored, subject to a 1,000 lbs. minimum.

You might heard moving companies using the term TARIFF but you don't know what a tariff is?

A tariff is a publication that works essentially like a catalog but reads like a legal document. The tariff satisfies the Federal requirment of the US Department of Transportation. The tariff details the services that are provided by the mover and the conditions under which the services are provided, along with the prices that the mover charges for services.
